Learning how to write a book has always been a formidable task. This how-to guide gives you a simple step-by-step procedure to make writing your first book much easier. Over the last couple of decades, I’ve written a number of best-selling books on writing known as Become a Writer Now. This how-to book gives readers some ideas about how to get started with writing. Here’s how to write a book.
First, choose a topic that interests you. It’s very easy to start writing a book with an idea for a story, but you may not have any story to tell. If you’re a non-fiction book writer, then researching the topic you want to write can give you ideas about what to write. Non-fiction books require a lot of research to produce solid information. As a matter of fact, the more you know about a topic, the easier it is to write your first non-fiction book writing.
Next, create an outline for your book’s main points. If you don’t know how to write an outline yet, it’s best to practice writing one before actually starting your big idea. Brainstorm and write down your main ideas. Once you’ve done this, summarize everything under each heading in your outline.
Now that you have an outline, it’s time to create the actual writing. To begin with, write down your outline as often as you can every day. Write down one idea for every day, even if you don’t plan on using it for your book. It’s a good idea to do this over a period of a few weeks.
Now start writing! When I recommend writing in groups of two or three, I find it’s easier to keep my focus on what I am writing. Two people may be writing a similar piece of work, but when they are writing it in teams, it’s much easier to see the structure of the piece. When writing in teams, you will be able to see your mistakes much easier because you’ve already corrected them as you go. Start small and then expand as you go along.
Another great tip I have for writers is to get stuck on something. What do I mean by getting stuck? If you start typing out an outline and get frustrated with the design, you may find yourself wanting to change it into a different format. If you don’t like how something looks, try looking at a different example and let that guide you to finding the best format for your work.
Finally, when writing, come up with a mind map or notepad full of notes. Mind maps are extremely useful tools for brainstorming and organizing ideas. I use mine all the time to jot down ideas as I am working. When I come up with an idea, I can immediately write it down on a mind map, expanding on it as I go along.
These are just a few tips for writers who are struggling. The most important thing is to have a plan. Write down your plan on a piece of paper at the beginning of the writing process, and continue to create plans as you go along. Keep track of your word count goals too, as that is crucial to your success. Good luck!

It also means cutting and revising until you are completely satisfied. It is much harder to do this if you don’t have a written manuscript to follow. That is why I strongly recommend using a writing routine, which is essentially a routine of writing.
It starts by planning out your writing sessions, scheduling time slots, and writing on a daily basis. As you progress, cut back on your writing time, and eventually, cut out the planning altogether. Then you’ll have more free time and be able to take your writing to the next level. It really is as simple as that.
