Amy Speace
As a classically-trained singer and actress, Amy Speace left small town Pennsylvania for college, studying English and Theater, then landed in NYC to study acting. With no family in the city and no real career plan, Amy was wide-eyed and hungry to try as much as she could in the arts. Living in a tiny studio in the heart of the bohemian East Village, she acted with the National Shakespeare Company, ran her own Off-Off Broadway theater company, wrote and directed plays and poetry, worked three jobs at once, and sang backup for friends' bands. A $50 pawn shop guitar, and few guitar lessons spurned her first songs that launched her performing and recording career.
